Bill Hotz, Attorney
Bill has been practicing law in Knoxville for more than 35 years. He is the founding father of Bill Hotz and Associates, a local firm that has obtained tens of millions of dollars in compensation for injury victims in the greater Knoxville area.

Gary Adkins, Attorney
After completing his military obligation, Gary returned to UT and obtained his degree in Communications. For the following 10 years, he worked in radio and advertising in the Knoxville area. In addition to working for WOKI-FM and other area radio stations, he also booked and promoted large arena concerts for bands such as Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Blue Oyster Cult and others.
In 1982 Gary decided he was probably having too much fun and went back to school to pursue a law degree. He graduated with Honors from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1985. He has been practicing law in East Tennessee ever since. His practice has been primarily limited to representing people against big insurance and big business. All his life he has enjoyed sticking it to the man.
Gary has two sons, Greg (and wife Jessica) and Adam. He also has two wonderful grandchildren, Connor and Claire.

Haley M. Newton, Attorney

Now Jeff lives in Knoxville with his wife, Jodie, and step-son, Jake, and works everyday to ensure that injured people are given the compensation they deserve.
Tim Baldridge, Attorney
Tim was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration at Memphis State University, where he also played on the football team. Tim graduated from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in Lansing, Michigan in 1991. Tim joined Bill Hotz and Associates in 2007. He handles our extensive Social Security Disability practice, as well as workers’ compensation and personal injury cases.
Stephanie was born and raised in Knoxville. After graduating from Carter High School, she thought she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. One bad day in human anatomy lab and Stephanie decided the legal field might be a better choice for her. After completing the Paralegal Program at Pellissippi State, she began her legal career with Hogan & Hogan, working in insurance defense. She now has more than 21 years legal experience in everything from insurance defense, corporate and labor law, personal injury and workers’ compensation. She is our senior paralegal and office manager. Stephanie and her husband Lance have been married for 21 years and have a son, Landon, who is a Senior at Central High School. In addition to the law, Stephanie enjoys the lake, the New York Yankees and the Central High School Bobcat football team.
Chantal is a native East Tennessean. While attending the University of Tennessee, she clerked for her first law firm, Gresham & Hogan. It was at this firm that she found her passion was in the legal field. Chantal now has more than 25 years of experience with law firms that emphasize personal injury, workers’ compensation, criminal law and domestic law. Chantal is an avid member of Adopt a Golden Knoxville and enjoys doing animal rescue work, bicycling, camping and volunteering at our local animal shelters. She recently joined Bill Hotz and Associates and is very excited to be a part of our team.
Sonya Napier was born, raised and is lifelong resident of Knoxville, Tennessee and a graduate of Karns High School in 1984. She started a family and was a stay-at-home mom, before returning to school to pursue a career in paralegal studies. Sonya has spent the majority of her thirty year legal career working as a legal assistant/paralegal for defense firms in Knoxville in the areas of workers’ compensation, personal injury and employment law. However, in 2008, Sonya accepted a legal assistant/paralegal position at a plaintiff’s firm in West Knoxville and found it rewarding to help out “the underdog” in the areas of workers’ compensation, personal injury and family law. In 2010, Sonya joined Bill Hotz & Associates, P.C., and continues to work exclusively as paralegal to the firm’s Social Security Disability clientele.
Sheila was born and raised in Anderson County and graduated from Clinton High School in 1982. She worked in her family’s restaurant as a teenager and continued working as a restaurant manager through her early adult life when she decided to pursue a career as a paralegal. She graduated from Pellissippi State’s Paralegal program in 1998 and has been doing plaintiff’s work ever since. Her career as a paralegal has been in the practice areas of Medical Malpractice and Toxic Tort litigation, Social Security Disability, Personal Injury and Family Law. Sheila has been married for three years and has four dogs which are considered to be her children.
Ashley has been pursuing a career in the legal field for three years. She joined Bill Hotz and Associates in 2011. Although she is working toward a degree in psychology, she loves the legal work and finds it very rewarding. Ashley believes that her psychology studies will help her in her legal career. Ashley’s hobbies are cooking, motorcycles, visiting her family in Florida and her two dogs (Bentley and Bayli) and her cat (Billy Mays).
Margaret E. Setser
Margaret’s first job in the legal field was as a secretary for Bill Hotz & Associates in 1992. She worked with us in that capacity for a year and a half. She then worked outside the legal field for four years before going back to school to become a Certified Paralegal. She then worked on the “dark side” of the legal field for 17 years before returning to “the light” and is currently one of our Litigation Paralegals. Margaret has raised two boys with her first husband, is Nana to one grandson and mother to a wonderful pack of dogs.
